Reef

The beach at the Prima Cala (for more photos click here , here and here) has some sections of flat reefs, like these, a wide section of beach lined with large white pebbles (about the size of a potato) and a tiny, tiny area of sand.

Bellissima luce.

How cold is the Adriatic sea by Molfetta? Do people swim in the winter? If I decided to spend a couple of winter months in Molfetta or anywhere on that coast, how many rain days would I have? How many sunny days? You do see where I'm planning my future vacation, don't you?

SAretta, is it possible for you to find out if someone in the BAsilicata has a blog? I'm thinking some of my relatives' children, perhaps, and I could find them that way. Just hoping!

The difference in the colors of the rocks is very interesting. Even on this calm day, the ocean looks powerful — I don't think I want to see it during a storm.

Lakeviewer - I find "cold" to be a very subjective adjective...your "cold" and mine could be completely different! For me, the sea is COLD in the winter. Degrees-wise I'm not sure, you may be able to find that info online. Noone swims in the sea here in the winter, but that could be because there's sort of "there's a season for every activity" mentality here. Swimming season starts around late May for the hardy and no earlier than June for the masses! January is usually sunny, but this year it wasn't (but that's because we installed solar panels at the end of December, Murphy's Law, you know!). Feb. and March are usually rainier than other months. You may be able to find weather stats on my weather widget in the sidebar. I'm not sure about the Basilicata blogs...you could do a google search for "basilicata blogs" perhaps. Good luck! Stop by for a coffee if your travel plans come together! :-)

Hilda - it was windy, that's why there are waves. Without wind the sea is as calm as bathwater!

What a beautiful place to sit and watch the waves. just gorgeous! And in answer to your question, the Scottsdale Fairmont resort on my website is reasonably priced. it used to be pricey but most of the resorts are willing to offer nice deals because tourism is slower based on the poor economy. And, our prices are not Euros :)
