I'm not sure why there is barbed wire on this wall that separates the city swimming pool from the empty lot next to it. Can't imagine why the owners of the empty lot want to keep people out so badly that they put up barbed wire. I mean, the high wall wasn't enough of a deterent? Nor can I imagine why anyone would want to scale this wall from the swimming pool side to get into...the empty lot!

Il filo spinato è molto fotogenico ma (spesso) insensato ed arrogante.
i guess it was there for a purpose, but it does look hideous
It may have a reason to be there or it might not. Certainly it has provided you a good pic, and those little clouds soften the nasty purpose of the wire...
A mystery. Is it something left over from World War II?.

Sometimes people have a "lot" to worry about. Very interesting!
What if the barbed wire was put there to keep pigeons and other birds from roosting on that wall, another way of invading the swimming pool.
In our neck of the woods we put spikes on building and structures that birds might find attractive posts.
I like it! Great lines, textures, colors. Like a painter arranged the elements just so.
Rob - sì, anche a me suscita associazioni negativi
Kiwi - nasty stuff, isn't it?
Valeria - I'm glad you noticed that contrast!
Pat & Abe - I don't think so, although they do find leftover bombs in the sea around here sometimes...
Jacob - you are a punster!
Lakeviewer - we have those spikes here, too, though they never seem to be very effective. But, I don't think it's the case here. The pool is an indoor one.
Thanks, Elaine!
Like this candid picture so much.
