Flowers and Olive Trees

This is another flower growing in a corner of my yard at the foot of one of our 16 olive trees. I am hopeless with plants in general and never know their names...can anyone help me identify this little flower?

Sorry, I don't know the name of it. I used to have one in a pot and I loved it because it grew effortlessly and quickly and gave me loads of flowers.

What a sweet little flower. It looks like some type of Portulaca--but then again maybe not. It is very pretty and what fun to have it just come up around your trees. MB

Interesting to see the olive tree in what looks like a garden setting. I don't know anything about them but didn't expect that.

Oh mY! I can't beleive these florwers grom in Europe too! There are a lot of these flowers here in the Philippines. I call them "cake flowers" because they resemble the frost flowers that are found in commercial cakes here! Great shot and new learning for me^^

Valeria - yes, they do put out a lot of flowers!

MB - Portulaca? I'll have to google that.

pj - there are fields dedicated to olive groves, but people here have them in their yards, too. They're just sort of everywhere!

Silwy - I like this kind of photo, too. Detail photo is a good name for it!

Lucia - it doesn't look like the poppies we get here in the spring...I definately have to do a computer search!

Steven - I had no idea these little guys grow as far off as the Philipines! They do look like cake flowers, I agree with you.

Nobu - they are nice, aren't they? :-)

Whatever the name, the flowers are beautiful. Was this taken recently?

Yes, Ming, just last week. We're still having lovely warm weather.
