Abbracci - The Exhibit

The centerpiece of the art exhibit by Gaetano Grillo was the title sculpture, "Abbracci." The shell of two human forms is painted gold on one side...

...and covered with various signs and symbols on the other side. The use of only beige on beige writing with white outlines is somewhat new for Grillo, who has often used bright primary or pastel colors.

I'm sure that he has some success with these works. They are much better of most of the contemporary art we see around.

Hello, I just found your blog. I live in the US. My mother was born in Trieste and was raised in Molfetta. We are all (mother, father, husband and 4 yr old daughter) coming to visit family in early September and was wondering if you had any suggestions for nice lodging near Molfetta. In Molfetta would be fine but it seems that some cities surrounding may have more choices. Even renting a house would not be out of the question. Would love to hear your thoughts.

Looks like a really interesting exhibition. Like your photo of the artist as well.

Grillo is a successful artist, both artistically and commercially.

Eleni, if you are coming to visit family in Molfetta, they would probably prefer that you stay in Molfetta itself. People aren't as willing to move around here as they are in the States! The Garden Hotel is a nice place to stay. If you prefer to be on the sea, the Lafayette Hotel is also nice and has both beach and pool facilities. I'm sure you can find both of these hotels on-line and that they will have staff who speak English. There aren't nice villas on the sea to rent, as far as I know. Houses available for rent tend to be in the center of town, which can be both hot and noisy. If you have any other Qs, let me know. Feel free to send me an email.
