This statue of Victor Emmanuel II, the Father of the Fatherland, unified Italy's first king and symbol of the Risorgimento era, gazes upon a bus-stop and has his back turned on a cute little park that I'll show you tomorrow. He is located, appropriately enough, on Via Vittorio Emanuele II at Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II.

I'm with Hilda Gazes upon a bus stop is a very funny line to go with such a gorgeous image.
Well, I just thought he was looking way too important and self-satisfied up there on his pedestal and needed to lighten up a bit! And he is, in fact, straight across from the bus stop!

He seems to travel a lot around the country. I've seen him in almost every town I visited in Italy. :-)
