Crocheted Handicrafts

The town of Alberbello (see previous post here) is known for its handworked crocheted linens. They are very pretty and also quite affordable. One shopowner was very happy and willing to give me a demonstration of how she worked her cotton threads.

You can see some of her creations on the wall to the right, and on the bench she is seated on.

She told me, "This is all I do all day, every day!"

I guess she is quite good at this!

Crocheting is almost a lost art over here - glad it continues over there! Nice to see you're posting again!

Wonderful work, I would not have the patience...

I'm pretty sure she is tatting, which is a way of making lace by looping and knoting a single strand of heavy thread. M/L a lost art in the US.

I love her ability to focus! I get antsy enough at the pc getting things done online, and here she does this all day.

Beautiful work! I knew Burano was famous for its needlework, but didn't realize the Trullo town could claim this fame. One of the highlights of my Puglia visit.
