Italy 1 - Paraguay 1

This photo (taken on my husband's cellphone) is of poor quality, but I couldn't resist showing you some of the wacky World Cup fever that has grabbed all of Italy by the...shoulders and is taking the nation by storm. You can't go anywhere without hearing, seeing or being immersed in World Cup-ness! My older son, who is a big soccer fan and remembers the last "Mondiali" quite well, is amazed at how much more commercial and omnipresent the whole event has become this year. He is tickled by all the dancing of the South African fans but rather annoyed by those horns they blow on constantly!

You (and your son) summed up pretty well all our thoughts and antics about this World Cup! ...and the picture is really funny!

Well, it seems to be happening everywhere.

Nice picture. We are trying to escape the calcio fever, as everybody here obviously wants 'la roja' to win. Must be at least one or 2 Barcelona Football Club players in the spanish national team.

Cute picture! One doesn't hear much about the World Cup in the U.S. unless one is looking for it...

Soccer has never achieved the same kind of interest as American football or baseball even thought soccer is played all over the country.

Re your comment on Ocala DP: FAUX News is worse than going to the doctor...the doctor makes you well, FAUX News makes you sick! :-)

A cute picture and as you can guess, not much going on here over it lol..maybe if I went downtown I'd see something about it!

I'm definitely with your son on the horn issue! Noise, for the sake of noise, is annoying!

Happy belated "Flag Day" birthday! I hope your special day was a good one!
Now go cheer some more for the Italian soccer team!

As long as they keep the celebrations in the proper places, I'm okay with it.

Enjoy the festivities of the games.

Hello Saretta !

Very nice blog. I was searching for information about Molfetta, as my friend and his family are there now visiting their aunt. We are from New Jersey. It must be interesting living in Southern Italy - I heard it is very beautiful. I sit here at my desk in new York - and just wish I was there!

Best regards,
Brian
