Easter Sunday at Savelletri

Rather than having a traditional Easter lunch at home, we decided to drive down to Savelletri and dine at an open-air eatery on the sea. At Savelletri the coast is dotted with these places which serve a variety of seafood, but specialise in raw hedgehog sea urchins. These are served cut open and you can either scoop out the edible part with a piece of bread or just lick it with your tongue.

Personally, I don't care for raw seafood, but I did not go hungry. My lunch started with an octopus salad.

And continued with a grilled swordfish steak.

My husband and son had spaghetti with seafood after their sea urchins.

And a side order of steamed mussels.

Happy Easter!

I think I'd like the spaghetti dish the best in your Easter lunch series of photos! Happy Easter!
Going outside to ride bikes with the kids up & down the street in short sleeve shirts!

Savelletri!!!! Oh my goodness, Saretta you have brought me back to a place I am very very fond of!! I can't remember the name of the actual eatery, but I managed to shock the waiter of the joint because I polished off so many (when we placed our order I initially said, "No! 50 is too many... ha ha ha)

That photo of the ricci is stunning, it should be your header!!

That looks like the best Easter menu ever!

The grilled swordfish steak would be my choice! But it looks like you did feast at Easter!

Have a great week!

That looks fantastic. Your description reminds me of a visit to a seaside taverna just outside Napoli.

Love mussels in a flavorful wine sauce with plenty of bread on the side to dip. Here we LOVE our seafood, but have never tried sea urchin.

I like the grilled swordfish & the spaghetti dishes, but I don't really do raw either. The urchin photo is very interesting though.
