Duomo

This is one of the twin towers on Molfetta's Duomo (or cathedral) taken from the rear of the church. The church is in the old town and the streets are so narrow that the wall of the building I was backed up against to take this shot has snuck into the photo.

I really like that vertical perspective of the duomo!

Buon Natale a te!

The city planners of Italy in the middle ages were so inconsiderate. In some places they did not leave enough space in front of churches to anticipate the limits of conventional camera lenses 500 or so years later. You encountered this issue today. I have encountered the same frustration trying to get a full frame straight shot directly at the front of the Duomos in Siena and Florence.

Where were the photographers when the city planning and zoning commissions were issuing building permits for these Duomos? Didn't they speak up and say, "If you build it, we will come, and we will photograph it, and we need space and sight lines for the best angles."
