Gated Pier

This little gate guards an equally tiny pier along the port. I think it's quite attractive, but I'm not sure how effective it is in keeping anyone off the pier. You can just step down onto the pier on either side of the ramp. But, maybe its purpose is more aesthetic than anything else...
These little fishing boats are being guarded by the gate. You can see the fishing nets lying out to dry on the pier.

I like all the curves in that gate. Aesthetically effective if not top notch in the security department :)

I'm curious: do all boats there have to be registered? Even these little ones? And how is it decided where they can dock? I'm just wondering because of the boats on this pier and the ones on the shore yesterday.

I like these sceneries.
It just like a fishing port here.

I can just imagine being gently lulled on one of these tied up boats... when I blew up the pic to look at it, I really like the line of cars in the background too!

You are right! That's a very ... silly gate isn't it?! Enorme e a protezione di quattro barchette da pesca... veramente molto strano. Ciao!

In this picture you can see the Coast Guard Building on the right. While visiting, i ventured in there and was greeted by a beautiful mosaic of Molfetta's harbor. I took a picture with the intent of blowing it up and framing it for my home. If you've not looked at it, you should. It right past the door as soon as you step in tot the lobby.
